Hi, I’m Karen — and if you’re here, we probably have something in common.

Loss changes us. It rearranges our plans, our hearts, and the way we see the world. It also leaves us trying to rebuild a life we didn’t ask for and weren’t prepared to live.

 

I’ve walked that road too. I’m a widow, a writer, and a woman who spent years trying to figure out how to live again when everything familiar was gone. Some days I handled it with strength, some days with tears… and some days with a strange mixture of both. (Grief never was very organized.)

 

For more than three decades, I was a teacher — someone who helped kids find confidence, courage, and curiosity. I never expected that one day I’d have to teach myself those same things in an entirely new way.

 

After losing my husband, I found myself trying to navigate a world where nothing made sense anymore. There wasn’t a map. There wasn’t a “right” way. Just the slow, quiet process of putting one foot in front of the other and learning to breathe again.

 

Eventually, I realized something important:

If life doesn’t give you a manual, sometimes you have to write one yourself.

And that’s what I’m doing here — writing my way through grief, healing, loneliness, courage, and new beginnings… and sharing it with anyone who needs a companion on their own journey.

 

I’m not here to preach or to promise easy answers. I’m here to be real. To be honest. To laugh a little. To cry when I need to. And to say the thing so many of us feel but don’t know how to say:

 

You’re not alone.

Not in your grief.

Not in your confusion.

Not in your “now what?” moments.

Not in your slow steps forward.

 

So pull up a chair, take a breath, and come as you are.

This isn’t a place for perfection — it’s a place for people who are doing their best to live again.
