LEARNING TO SEE BEAUTY

I never cared much about gardening. To me, it was always just “yard work”. I was too hot, sweaty, and it was too much trouble. I loved flowers and grasses, but not enough to plant any. I told myself I didn’t have a green thumb, and everything I plant dies. So, I left the soil untouched.
But this year, something has shifted. I put flowers in the ground, and now I find myself going outside to stand and look at them. They make me smile in ways I didn’t expect. I told God, “You make good stuff.” And he does.
“Lord, thank you for the beauty you’ve placed all around me. These flowers remind me that life blooms in color, even after hard seasons. Just as you care for each petal and leaf, you care for me. Help me slow down, breathe deeply, and notice the small miracles of today. May my heart be as open as these blossoms, turning toward your light.”
Sometimes the simplest blooms can change the way we see the world. Maybe that’s the real gift of a garden, not what we create, but how it helps us notice the beauty God already placed there.
